Job summary

Howden is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate the Azure-based platform for US AI and data workloads. This hands-on role covers landing zones, data platforms, AI runtime services, and security controls to empower engineering teams to ship AI capabilities quickly and safely.

The role spans Azure foundation, Databricks Lakehouse, and AI Foundry components, with governance, cost controls, and self-serve platform services guiding priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in cloud platform, infrastructure, or data engineering, with 3+ years on Azure.
• Strong Terraform experience provisioning Azure infrastructure at scale.
• Hands-on Azure networking, security, and identity experience (Entra ID, RBAC, Key Vault).
• Production experience with Databricks, Lakehouse, Data Factory, Fabric, or Synapse.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Azure landing zones for AI and data workloads.
• Provision compute and hosting layer for AI services (Container Apps, AKS, App Service, Functions).
• Build shared platform services (Key Vault, Service Bus, Event Hubs, Storage, Cosmos DB).
• Own capacity, quota, and region strategy for AI and data services.
• Maintain Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines for automation.
