Job summary

Numerator is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to ensure the reliability of our Azure VM estate (Windows primarily, Linux footprint) as we scale from ~60 to 300+ VMs. You will patch, back up, monitor, and automate tasks using Terraform and scripting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure operations.
• Strong administration depth in Windows Server with Linux familiarity.
• Proven experience managing Azure VM estates, patching, backup and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Manage health and reliability of the Azure VM estate (Windows and Linux).
• Run patching and update management with Azure Update Manager; ensure patch compliance.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery with Azure Backup and Site Recovery; regular restore testing.
• Build monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor and KQL; drive auto-remediation.
• Automate VM lifecycle (provisioning, configuration, decommissioning) with Terraform and scripting.
• Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and fix the class of problem, not just the instance.
• Support security investigations with logs, process activity, and access history as needed.
• Reduce toil through automation and document runbooks and standards.
