Job summary

Numerator is seeking a highly experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to own the Azure VM estate, currently Windows-dominant with a growing Linux footprint. You will patch, back up, monitor, and automate tasks using Terraform and scripting to reduce toil.

You will drive patch management, DR testing, and auto-remediation, while collaborating with distributed teams and supporting security investigations. Experience at scale is essential.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years in SRE, systems engineering, or infrastructure operations.
• Deep Windows Server administration with Linux familiarity.
• Proven experience managing Azure VM estates at scale.
• Strong scripting and automation mindset with IaC practices.
• Solid incident management and root cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Own health, reliability, and performance of the Azure VM estate.
• Lead patching, updates, and compliance using Azure Update Manager.
• Oversee backup and DR with Azure Backup and Site Recovery; test restores.
• Build monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor and KQL; drive auto-remediation.
• Automate VM lifecycle: provisioning, configuration, decommissioning with Terraform.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and fix systemic issues.
• Assist security investigations; review logs and events with security teams.
• Document runbooks and standards to keep platform operable by the team.
• Collaborate with distributed teams; communicate clearly across time zones.
