Job summary

EY is seeking an Assistant Director to lead cloud platform and infrastructure efforts across government programs in the U.S. You will drive Azure Government platforms, guide architectural decisions, and implement DevSecOps practices at scale.

The role focuses on secure, scalable cloud delivery, risk management, and continuous improvement across distributed teams. In this position, you will mentor engineers, influence stakeholders, and balance delivery speed with quality and security in

Qualifications

• 7+ years in engineering roles with cloud IaaS, PaaS, and/or SaaS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• Microsoft Certified: AZ-104 and AZ-305.
• Hands-on IaC/CI/CD tooling (Bicep, Azure DevOps, ARM templates, Ansible).
• Containers/orchestration with Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, Azure Container Apps, Helm.
• Networking fundamentals including VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, and load balancing.
• Cloud security principles including NIST, FedRAMP.
• Identity/Access management with Azure Entra ID, Azure RBAC, Entra ID RBAC, PIM, managed identities.
• Windows/Linux administration with patching and hardening.
• Scripting with PowerShell; Python a plus.
• Experience with government security frameworks (NIST).
• Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
• Strong written and verbal communication and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Own outcomes across multiple workstreams translating mission needs into secure, scalable cloud platforms.
• Guide technical direction for Azure Government platforms, ensuring scalable and secure solutions.
• Establish and evolve DevSecOps practices and automation for delivery consistency.
• Make informed trade-off decisions balancing speed, quality, security, risk, and platform health.
• Lead architecture and design efforts, reviewing solutions for standards and outcomes.
• Oversee risk, dependency, and issue management, escalating proactively.
• Influence stakeholders to align priorities and drive execution without direct authority.
• Develop engineering talent through coaching and delegation.
• Promote operational excellence by improving processes and tooling.
