Job summary

Advanced Tech Placement in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Database Administrator to support our migration from on-prem to Azure, focusing on administering Azure SQL databases and ensuring reliable performance.

You will implement backups, high availability and disaster recovery, strengthen security and access controls, and collaborate with application and infrastructure teams on schema design, capacity planning, and automation using PowerShell, Python and Terraform.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of database administration experience.
• Hands-on experience with cloud database services in Azure.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation a plus.
• Cloud certification (Azure) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain databases Azure SQL.
• Monitor performance, tune queries, and optimize database configurations for reliability and cost.
• Manage backups, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery processes.
• Implement and maintain database security, access controls, and compliance standards.
• Partner with application and infrastructure teams on schema design, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
• Automate routine tasks through scripting such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform.
• Maintain documentation and participate in on call rotation.
