Job summary

Tech Mirrors in the New York City Metropolitan Area is seeking a Database Administrator to design, implement, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments, delivering high availability and robust backup strategies.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience, a BS in CS or IT, and strong skills in Windows Server, SQL Server, and performance tuning. Hybrid work arrangement with three onsite days is offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• Strong expertise in Windows Server, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Storage, and security fundamentals
• Hands-on experience implementing Always On high availability
• Strong SQL knowledge
• Strong logical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, tune, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL databases
• Perform SQL Server installations, upgrades, and migrations
• Optimize database performance and conduct query tuning
• Implement high-availability solutions, including Always On
• Develop and manage database backup and recovery strategies
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
• Support database security, compliance, data modeling, and migrations
• Develop and maintain database procedures, standards, and technical documentation
• Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, network, and systems teams
• Provide technical direction and guidance to junior database staff
• Evaluate new database technologies and support ongoing Microsoft Azure initiatives
