Job description

This position is a fully remote role, with occasional travel within the United States required.

PURPOSE:

Seeking an Azure Data Engineer (3–5 years) to join cross-functional teams of Developers, Azure engineers, and Azure Security professionals. Responsibilities include designing, deploying, and maintaining Azure Data across various SQL and NoSQL platforms, providing operational support, and optimizing performance, replication, backup, restore, and disaster recovery. Must have expert-level skills in Azure and Microsoft Database platforms, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.

Key tasks involve CI/CD pipelines; automating operations with Bash, PowerShell, and Python; designing and implementing Zero Trust and least-privilege models; and managing Azure DevOps security and permissions. Collaboration with application developers and infrastructure teams is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Databases: Microsoft SQL, MongoDB, Postgres, Qdrant; WAN data replication; On-Premises to Azure migrations; Managing secure identities and groups.
• Security & Permissions: Configure Azure Database security, service connections, user/group permissions; implement least-privilege access via Azure RBAC and Management Groups; enforce Azure Policy.
• Agile Process & Boards Management: Create and maintain work items; participate in sprint planning, backlog management, and reporting.
• Automation & Scripting: Write and maintain deployment and operational scripts in Bash, PowerShell, and Python; perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Expertise in designing, deploying, and operating Azure data infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Azure compute, storage, networking, and identity services.
• Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
• Understanding of Zero Trust security models.
• Experience with Azure DevOps security.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and self-starter attitude.
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI, T-SQL, Microsoft Fabric.
• Azure certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of Azure Security tools, Key Vault, Entra identity.
• Exposure to application development (C#, Python, etc.).
• Experience with Linux and Windows environments.

Starting salary: $130,000/year.
