Job summary

World Acceptance Corporation seeks a Director of IT Cloud Operations to own the Azure platform, set strategy, design target architecture, and lead a small high-leverage team. This role blends leadership with hands-on depth in a governed, secure cloud environment, collaborating across IT and external partners.

The position requires 8+ years in cloud engineering, strong IAM, networking, and FinOps, plus governance experience in SOX/PCI.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cloud or infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on Azure at production scale and governance.
• Experience managing external delivery partners and SOX/GLBA/PCI environments.
• Strong communication with executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a Cloud Engineer and a DevOps Engineer.
• Set technical direction, review work, and mentor.
• Coordinate matrixed support from IT and manage external partners.
• Use CAF baseline to assess Azure environment against best practices.
• Establish a scored maturity model with owners for capabilities.
• Own environment cleanup: retire resources and fix exposures.
• Enforce tagging, Azure Policy governance, and break-glass controls.
• Set multi-year cloud direction and target state including landing zones.
• Deliver reusable Bicep/Terraform modules via Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Manage cloud spend through tagging, right-sizing, and reservations.
• Ensure SOX ITGC, GLBA/FTC Safeguards, PCI DSS audit evidence.
• Ensure monitoring, backups, logs, and remediation of posture findings.
• Other duties as assigned.
