Job summary

American Institute of Physics is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to manage Azure cloud infrastructure, drive incident resolution at Level 3, and support identity and security operations. The role emphasizes DevSecOps practices, automation, and collaboration across infrastructure, security, and development teams.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of infrastructure, systems administration, or cloud operations experience.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting.
• Experience working within a cross-functional Cloud Operations or DevSecOps team.
• Experience using work management and collaboration platforms such as Jira.
• Availability to participate in occasional scheduled maintenance windows and after-hours response during major incidents or critical outages.
• Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage patching, updates, and lifecycle for Azure VMs and cloud workloads.
• Support on-premises infrastructure during transition to cloud.
• Maintain operational documentation, standards, and procedures.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve infrastructure issues.
• Act as escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and assist with RCA and problem resolution.
• Participate in major incident response and problem management activities.
• Support Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and RBAC efforts.
