Job summary

Howard University is hiring a Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain a secure, scalable Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure supporting institutional data and applications. The role collaborates with data engineering, security, and application teams to ensure reliability, cost-efficiency, and governance adherence.

The candidate will automate provisioning, manage IAM, networking, and monitoring, and contribute to data modernization initiatives across university IT services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field with relevant Azure cloud experience.
• 5+ years of technology experience including Microsoft Azure cloud experience.
• Azure certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain secure and scalable Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Manage Azure networking, compute, storage, identity and access management, and security configurations.
• Develop and maintain IaC to standardize cloud provisioning and configuration.
• Monitor performance, security, and cost, and optimize resources.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and production release processes.
• Maintain cloud architecture documentation and governance standards.
