Job summary

Bankwell is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, implement, secure, and operate our Azure-based infrastructure, with a focus on infrastructure as code using Terraform. This role drives cloud modernization, supports AI workloads, Snowflake integration, and ensures secure, compliant operations in a regulated banking environment.

The ideal candidate has deep Azure engineering experience, strong Terraform skills, and a track record of building repeatable, well-documented cloud patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Engineering, or related field; 7+ years in systems/cloud/infra roles.
• 4+ years hands-on Microsoft Azure engineering experience including networking, identity, monitoring, security, governance, and platform ops.
• 3+ years Terraform experience with reusable modules, state management, reviews, version control, and deployment pipelines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to translate technical decisions into clear docs, diagrams, and runbooks.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate secure, scalable Azure infrastructure (subscriptions, resource groups, networking, identity, storage, compute, monitoring).
• Develop Azure landing zones, naming/tagging standards, and governance practices; support AI, data, Snowflake integrations.
• Lead Terraform module governance, provisioning pipelines (Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Git, PowerShell, Python).
• Maintain security controls, identity and access management, auditing, and disaster recovery planning.
