United Global Technologies (UGT) is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect to support our ongoing projects with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading complex cloud migration initiatives, architecting secure and scalable cloud environments in Azure and AWS, and collaborating with DOE’s technical teams on cloud modernization and AI-driven projects.
This individual will serve as a technical leader—bridging the gap between cloud engineering, AI innovation, and enterprise IT modernization—to deliver secure, compliant, and efficient cloud solutions that align with DOE mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead DOE project teams in the design, architecture, and implementation of hybrid and full cloud solutions (Azure and AWS).
- Guide DOE technical teams through cloud migration strategies from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
- Develop cloud architecture frameworks, roadmaps, and migration blueprints aligned with DOE cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
- Partner with AI and data science teams to architect cloud environments optimized for machine learning, AI modeling, and analytics workloads.
- Implement and manage identity, access, and security controls to maintain FISMA, FedRAMP, and DOE compliance.
- see cost optimization, monitoring, and automation for large-scale cloud operations.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to DOE leadership, providing cloud readiness assessments, gap analyses, and modernization recommendations.
- Coordinate across multi-disciplinary UGT teams, including DevOps, cybersecurity, and application development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 7+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in cloud architecture or engineering.
- Proven experience with Azure and AWS cloud architecture, including migration from on-premises systems.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud security, infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with AI/ML workloads, data pipelines, and cloud‑native analytics tools (e.g., Azure Machine Learning, AWS SageMaker).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with federal stakeholders.
- Experience supporting federal agencies or DOE‑related projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent.
- Experience with federal cloud compliance standards, including FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST SP 800‑53.
- Experience integrating AI/ML models and data platforms into cloud environments.
