  • Automate cloud provisioning and deployment using PowerShell, Python, Bash, ARM/Bicep, and CI/CD.
  • Implement cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, and RMF/compliance baselines.
  • Troubleshoot Azure, hybrid-cloud, identity, and network issues across teams.
  • Create and maintain cloud architecture docs and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Government and contractor stakeholders on requirements and deployment.

Salary Band: $148,942.83 to $170,220.38/annually

Job Description:

FGS, LLC is seeking an Azure Cloud Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise Microsoft Azure architecture for the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, Maryland. The selected candidate will engineer secure Azure and hybrid-cloud capabilities supporting Zero Trust tools, identity services, security monitoring platforms, and mission-critical Government information systems.
The Azure Cloud Systems Engineer will work with cloud architects, cybersecurity personnel, systems and network engineers, developers, and Government stakeholders to deploy and operate scalable cloud services, automate infrastructure and configuration, maintain cloud security and compliance baselines, and provide technical documentation and operational support. This position requires substantial hands-on Azure engineering experience in classified DoD environments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Engineer, configure, and maintain Azure subscriptions, resource groups, virtual networks, routing, virtual machines, storage, identity integrations, and cloud service baselines.
  • Design and support hybrid-cloud integrations connecting on-premises infrastructure with Azure-based Zero Trust, identity, security, and mission platforms.
  • Automate cloud provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, ARM/Bicep, CI/CD pipelines, serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Azure Functions, and related automation technologies.
  • Implement and maintain cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, performance management, and operational-health capabilities.
  • Apply secure cloud configuration baselines and support RMF, DoD cloud-security, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements.
  • Design, deploy, troubleshoot, and sustain cloud-based Windows and Linux systems and associated network services.
  • Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation, diagrams, integration schemas, configuration standards, operating procedures, and technical implementation guidance.
  • Troubleshoot complex Azure, hybrid-cloud, identity, networking, automation, deployment, and performance issues and coordinate resolution across technical teams.
  • Collaborate with Government and contractor stakeholders to evaluate cloud requirements, recommend technical solutions, and support integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM.
  • Five (5)+ years of cloud platform management, deployment, and monitoring experience with AWS and/or Azure, including substantial hands-on Microsoft Azure engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, deploying, debugging, and maintaining cloud-based systems and services.
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture and cloud service models, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, hybrid-cloud integration, and cloud-native services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Python, PowerShell, Bash, ARM/Bicep, CI/CD pipelines, and comparable scripting and infrastructure-automation technologies, including serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Azure Functions.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts including virtual networks, subnetting, routing, firewalls, connectivity, and security controls.
  • Experience managing Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems in cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting RMF, cloud security best practices, secure configuration, and DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical writing, collaboration, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and implementing microservices architectures and modern cloud-native solutions, including containerized and serverless workloads.
  • Good knowledge of cloud-based AI tools and capabilities, Responsible AI (RAI) policies and principles, and approaches for developing metrics, measurements, and evaluation methods for emerging and existing AI capabilities.
Required Certifications:
  • Active IAT or IAM Level II/III DoD-approved baseline certification, such as Security+ CE, CASP+, or other certification appropriate to the assigned DoD 8140/8570 work role.
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator or Azure Solutions Architect certification.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Additional cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are desirable.
  • Experience supporting Azure Government, classified cloud environments, or complex DoD/Intelligence Community systems.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, cloud governance, policy enforcement, configuration management, and automated compliance.
  • Experience integrating Azure identity, Zero Trust, security monitoring, and hybrid-cloud services.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM, 5+ years Cloud platform management, deployment, and monitoring (AWS, Azure).
Security Clearance Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance are required at the time of hire. The employee must maintain clearance eligibility throughout employment.
Physical, Work Environment & Conditions:
  • Primarily onsite in Suitland, Maryland.
  • Work is performed in a professional office, secure-facility, and occasional data-center or equipment-room environment.
  • Must be able to use standard office and information-technology equipment and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with technical, mission, program, and senior leadership stakeholders.
  • Occasional schedule flexibility or limited travel may be required to support integration, deployment, maintenance, or troubleshooting activities.
