Our client is a large airline company based in the Greater Seattle Area.

AZURE ARCHITECT

The Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership to our Cloud Center of Excellence, create Azure landing zones, understand cloud costs and FinOps, recommend infrastructure reliability best practices based on the Azure Well-Architected Framework, and consult with application teams to ensure optimal cloud solutions. This role requires a combination of hands-on engineering and architectural expertise. Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert is also required; additional certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Part of a Cloud Center of Excellence that provides technical guidance and leadership in Azure to ensure best practices in cloud architecture and operations are being followed.
• Collaborate with application teams to design and deploy scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions.
• Engage in hands-on engineering tasks, including the deployment, configuration, and management of Azure resources.
• Design and implement Azure landing zones to streamline cloud adoption and governance.
• Utilize Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate and manage cloud infrastructure. A strong understanding of ARM templates and proven experience using Azure DevOps pipelines is also required.
• Recommend and implement infrastructure reliability best practices based on the Azure Well-Architected Framework (WAF), including:
• Designing for high availability and disaster recovery for mission critical systems.
• Implementing automated monitoring and alerting systems.
• Conducting regular performance and reliability assessments.
• Ensuring security best practices are integrated into the architecture.
• Utilizing redundancy and failover mechanisms to minimize downtime.
• Implementing backup and restore procedures to protect data integrity.
• Applying Chaos Engineering principles to test and improve system resilience.
• Develop and execute FinOps strategies to optimize cloud costs and enhance financial accountability.
• Conduct cost analysis and optimization for cloud resources, leading to significant cost savings.
• Strong understanding of network architecture including Azure Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute, and security configurations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and engineers.
• Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architecture and best practices.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Extensive experience (7 years minimum) in Azure infrastructure architecture and software engineering.
• Proven experience working as a Senior Azure Architect or similar role.
• Strong understanding of Azure design principles utilizing the principles of Azure’s Well Architected Framework and a proven track record designing and implementing Azure-native solutions, including PaaS, serverless computing, event-driven or real-time services, storage, and containerized applications.
• Experience in cloud cost management and FinOps including creating automated solutions to help manage costs.
• Expertise in infrastructure reliability best practices and the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
• Expertise and proven experience in building Azure landing zones using terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal/communication skills and proven ability introducing new ideas and technologies to communities of developers. This includes a high degree of professionalism and customer service orientation.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with a variety of teams.

Preferred:

• Experience leveraging Azure Open AI services to enhance cloud solutions and drive innovation, including:
• Integrating AI capabilities into cloud applications to improve functionality and user experience.
• Utilizing machine learning models to optimize cloud operations and performance.
• Implementing natural language processing (NLP) solutions to automate and streamline business processes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duration: April 7 to start, to run for 12 months, and chance to extend.

Daily Schedule: M-F, 40 hours a week, no OT anticipated.

Location: Can be remote but MUST work pacific hours. Candidates need to be pacific or mountain time.

Hardware: Client will provide.

Onboarding requirements: Client requires a background check and drug screen after offer.

Screening: Candidates need to be comfortable being on camera and participating in meetings.
