Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector/AWS Certified Welding Inspector in Canton, MI. You will serve as an independent field representative for cement, steel, and structural inspection activities, ensuring adherence to AWS standards and project specs.

You will review documents, perform welding inspections, and coordinate with the project team to maintain quality and safety on a large construction project.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.
• Experience applying AWS D1.1/D1.1M during steel fabrication and field erection.
• Ability to perform independent third-party construction inspection.

Responsibilities

• Review inspection scope, drawings, submittals, RFIs, and related documents before inspections.
• Observe welding, bolting, and structural steel work for code compliance.
• Prepare electronic daily inspection reports with location, measurements, and observations.
• Coordinate with project management and contractors to resolve deficiencies.
