Job summary

Peraton seeks an experienced AWS Security Manager to lead the strategy and execution of our cloud security program. You will work with Cloud Engineering, DevOps, GRC, Audit, and Applications teams to protect our AWS footprint and drive improvements across multi-account environments.

You will mentor a team of security engineers, establish security standards, manage IAM and encryption, and ensure readiness for SA&A and FedRAMP audits.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in cloud security or cybersecurity.
• Proven experience leading security engineering teams.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for agency clearance.
• Strong knowledge of AWS security controls—identity, logging, encryption.
• Advanced hands-on Terraform experience, including writing/reviewing modules.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of security engineers focused on AWS hardening, Terraform automation, CI/CD security, monitoring, and incident response.
• Establish enterprise-wide AWS security standards, policies, and best practices.
• Oversee the IAM strategy, including roles, policies, identity federation, and least-privilege enforcement.
• Guide engineers on AWS Lambda development, serverless architecture, secure coding, and scalable deployments.
• Manage deployment and configuration of AWS native security tools and CI/CD security in IaC workflows.
• Drive automation for drift detection, patching, remediation, and compliance reporting.
• Oversee detection and response activities for AWS security events.
• Lead threat investigations, RCA processes, and remediation plans.
• Maintain and improve security runbooks, tabletop exercises, and escalation procedures.
• Prepare for audits including SA&A, NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP.
