Job summary

SquareTrade, a fast-growing provider in a $30b industry, seeks aMid-Level DBA with strong SQL optimization in a cloud-native AWS PostgreSQL environment. You will join a dispersed team supporting production, QA, development, and analytics, modernizing data architecture while ensuring security and availability.

Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server is valued as part of a broader DB skillset; the role is hybrid with a Dallas office, and compensation ranges may reflect market rates in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in computing.
• 4–6 years of hands-on PostgreSQL production experience.
• Experience with AWS managed services (Aurora/RDS) and cloud database hosting.
• Proficiency with pg_dump/pg_restore and AWS Snapshots.

Responsibilities

• Create, configure, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL databases on AWS with high availability and security.
• Manage IAM and DB access controls with audits for compliance.
• Oversee automated backups and disaster recovery testing.
• Perform regular maintenance, patching, and upgrades with minimal downtime.
• Configure replication (Aurora Read Replicas, logical replication) for durability and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering on schema design and query optimization.
• Peer-review SQL code for efficiency and security.
• Tune performance using indexing, query rewriting, and server settings.
• Support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments as needed.
