Job summary

Executive Staff Recruiters / ESR Healthcare in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to design, deploy and optimize mission-critical DB infrastructure. You will own high-availability, backups, PITR, and performance tuning for multi-terabyte datasets.

The role requires hands-on experience with cloud deployments (AWS RDS/EC2 or GCP), Kubernetes or containerization, and strong cross-team collaboration to support a high-volume production environment.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture.
• Experience with backups and restores in PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database upgrades on minor and major versions.
• Hands-on replication and point-in-time recovery.
• Day-to-day operations and troubleshooting performance issues.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL configuration parameters and system tables.
• Experience with PostgreSQL maintenance tasks.
• Exposure to PostgreSQL deployments in cloud (AWS RDS/EC2 or GCP).
• High availability with Repmgr/pgpool/EFM.
• Experience administering multi-terabyte databases.
• Aptitude to learn new technologies independently.
• Strong communication across business and technical teams.
• Background building large database infrastructure for high-volume transactions.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or containerization.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and optimize PostgreSQL infrastructure for high-volume workloads.
• Manage backups, PITR, upgrades, and replication setups.
• Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues (load, locks, long-running queries).
• Maintain HA configurations and cloud deployments (AWS/GCP).
• Collaborate with multiple teams to support mission-critical DB requirements.
• Continue expanding the database platform to support growth.
