Job summary

Koniag IT Systems, LLC is seeking a skilled AWS FinOps Engineer to optimize cloud spend, build cost visibility tools, and collaborate with engineering and finance on cost-effective solutions. This hybrid role combines hands-on analysis with governance and automation to enable fast, responsible cloud usage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud cost optimization, FinOps, or cloud engineering with a strong AWS focus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and monitor spend using Cost Explorer, CUR, Budgets, and third-party tools.
• Identify idle, orphaned, and overprovisioned resources and quantify savings.
• Manage Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and Spot usage for optimal discounts.
• Build and maintain dashboards and show back reporting (QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI).
• Deliver forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis with Finance on planning cycles.
• Configure cost anomaly detection and rapid remediation of unexpected spend.
• Design tagging standards and account structure for cost attribution.
• Use Terraform or CloudFormation and scripting (Python, Bash) to automate cost controls.
• Advise on cost-efficient architecture including Kubernetes/EKS and serverless options.
• Define FinOps KPIs and deliver training and documentation to spread best practices.
