Job summary

Hydrogen Group in Houston, TX, seeks an AWS DevOps/Platform Engineer III to design, build, and operate scalable AWS infrastructure and DevOps processes for AI, Data Science, and Application Engineering workloads across pipelines and data platforms. You will lead automation initiatives using IaC, SaC, and CI/CD best practices.

You will mentor mid-level and junior engineers and collaborate across Platform, DevOps, and DataOps teams, with occasional travel to the West Houston office.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in AWS DevOps/Platform Engineer role.
• 5+ years with IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• 5+ years Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• 5+ years scripting in Python, Bash, Shell.
• 5+ years Linux/Unix experience.
• 3+ years CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins).
• 5+ years of GitHub and/or GitLab experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation) across multi-account AWS environments.
• Build, improve, automate, and shift-left CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement, automate, and enforce defined security and compliance policies at the resource and repository level.
• Support deployment automation across diverse containerized clusters and data platforms.
• Support complex pipelines spanning multi-cloud, multi-platform, and on-premises systems.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers.
• Initial priority: help automate compliance integrations into CI/CD pipelines and the company's compliance tooling using Terraform.
• Automate IaC using Terraform, Python, and Shell.
• Occasional travel to the West Houston office.

Position Summary

Our client, a leading midstream energy company headquartered in Houston, TX, is seeking an AWS DevOps/Platform Engineer III to design, build, and operate scalable AWS infrastructure and supporting DevOps processes for AI, Data Science, and Application Engineering workloads across its pipeline, storage, and processing operations. Working under minimal supervision as part of a cross-functional team, this individual will partner closely with Platform, DevOps, and DataOps Engineers across the AWS ecosystem and help lead automation initiatives using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Security as Code (SaC), and CI/CD best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation) across multi-account AWS environments

Education & Experience

• 5+ years working in the AWS ecosystem as a DevOps/Platform Engineer, with deep AWS expertise
• 5+ years working with IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• 5+ years supporting Kubernetes and containerized orchestration
• 5+ years scripting/programming with industry-standard languages and tools (Python, Bash, Shell)
• 5+ years of Linux/Unix experience
• 5+ years of code repository experience (GitHub, GitLab, ADO)
• 3+ years supporting CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and architecture patterns
• Excellent troubleshooting and incident-response skills
• 5+ years of CI/CD experience with the tools listed above
• 5+ years of experience with GitHub and/or GitLab
• 5+ years of AWS Platform Engineering experience
