Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder at the Duluth location to fabricate, fit and cut to blueprint standards. You will perform GMAW/FCAW welding using various arc and gas equipment, while interpreting schematics and work orders.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read blueprints and schematics and interpret work orders.
• High school diploma or GED required; welding certificate or degree preferred.
• 2+ years welding experience may be substituted for a degree.
• AWS D.1.1 weld certification expected within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit, and cut to meet blueprint standards.
• Perform GMAW and/or FCAW welding with various arc and gas tools.
• Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, and smooth surfaces using hand and power tools.
• Operate and understand equipment within the work area (cell).
• Lay out and mark dimensions using shop math and layout techniques.
• Inspect assemblies and components for conformance to specifications.
• Read schematics and work orders; use basic hand tools like tape measure.
• Perform rework as required; maintain daily time records and documentation.
• Support Altec Production System (APS) initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Cross-train by moving to other areas to meet production needs.
• Train new/current associates; uphold safety, environmental and quality policies.
