Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Security Engineer to help secure foundational compute and networking systems powering AWS, including EC2, Nitro, EBS, and VPC. You will work with service teams to identify and fix security risks, design controls, and guide secure architectures at massive scale.

You will partner with engineering teams to embed security early, automate threat detection, and develop self‑service security tools while contributing to a long‑term security strategy across cloud

Qualifications

• 3+ years scripting, programming, and security code review in a non-internship setting.
• 3+ years threat modeling, secure coding, identity management & authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration or network security.
• Knowledge of industry‑based security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
• Knowledge of HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Experience using AI/ML tools to automate threat detection or security workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated security guardrails and paved paths for secure-by-default practices.
• Engage with development teams early to embed security in applications.
• Build automated security assessment capabilities at scale.
• Contribute code for security fixes alongside developers.
• Partner with teams to build scalable, self‑service security tools for risk remediation.
• Design preventive and detective controls for continuous assurance.
• Collaborate to define long‑term security strategy and participate in on‑call rotations.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate security assessments and threat detection.
