Job summary

Steampunk, Inc. is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure cloud environments primarily in AWS.

You will drive security across the system lifecycle, manage IAM, vulnerability management, data protection, and continuous monitoring, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen security posture. The role requires strong hands-on AWS security experience, cloud-native and third-party security solutions, and the ability to lead security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of total experience.
• 5+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, implementing, or securing cloud solutions.
• 5+ years of experience with AWS.
• Experience with IAM, CSPM, and CNAPP in cloud environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Current AWS certification.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure cloud architectures and solutions with security requirements throughout the lifecycle.
• Identify and implement secure cloud-based solutions including IAM, zero-trust, and data protection.
• Implement and maintain IAM controls including authentication and least-privilege access.
• Assess and harden cloud environments, configurations, and authorization controls.
• Identify, assess, document, and track vulnerabilities and cloud security risks.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity teams to remediate vulnerabilities.
• Monitor cloud environments for suspicious activity using cloud-native tools and SIEM.
• Conduct risk assessments, threat modeling, and security testing in cloud environments.
• Automate security processes including vulnerability management and configuration assessment.
• Support infrastructure as code and large-scale deployments with automated configurations.
• Evaluate IaC and cloud configurations for security risk and remediation options.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
