Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure cloud environments with emphasis on AWS. You will collaborate across teams to enforce zero-trust, data protection, and continuous monitoring, while automating security processes and guiding junior engineers.

The role requires strong hands-on AWS security experience, IAM expertise, and certification, with a focus on secure architectures, risk assessments, and vulnerability management across enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 10+ years total experience preferred.
• 5+ years architecting, designing, developing, or securing cloud solutions.
• 5+ years AWS experience and cloud security-focused work.
• AWS security architecture, controls, and best practices in AWS environments.
• Experience with CNAPP or CSPM solutions.
• Experience with IAM, authentication/authorization, and least-privilege design in cloud.
• Experience securing cloud vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.
• Experience security monitoring, threat modeling, and security testing in cloud.
• Experience with IaC and orchestration tools.
• Strong cross-team collaboration and communication.
• Current AWS certification.

Responsibilities

• Design secure cloud architectures and solutions with security requirements across the lifecycle.
• Implement secure cloud-based components supporting zero-trust, IAM, and data protection.
• Maintain IAM controls including authentication, authorization, and least privilege.
• Harden cloud environments, configurations, and access controls.
• Identify and track vulnerabilities and cloud security risks.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity teams to remediate security gaps.
• Monitor environments for suspicious activity using cloud-native tools and SIEM.
• Conduct risk assessments, threat modeling, and security testing.
• Automate vulnerability management and configuration assessment processes.
• Support cloud security through infrastructure as code and large-scale deployments.
