Job summary

Leidos in Ashburn, VA, seeks an Operations & Maintenance Cloud Engineer to support the CBP TPVS program. The role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence several times weekly to maintain critical missions and ensure system availability.

You will troubleshoot production issues, coordinate with application teams, and uphold SLAs while expanding cloud competencies across the team. DHS background checks are required.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 6+ years, or 4 years in lieu of degree
• 8+ years supporting application cloud solutions on AWS
• Experience supporting 24x7x365 operations
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow
• U.S. Citizen; must have or recently had DHS Full Background investigation
• Understanding of field operations, SLAs, and on-call support
• Experience in at least two of: PostgreSQL, advanced analytics, micro-services, monitoring, SecDevOps
• Working knowledge of AWS applications and supporting them
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of analysts, developers, data scientists, DBAs
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong troubleshooting
• Organizational skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact for IT-related field and production problems
• Provide phone and online support to users; perform triage and escalation
• Work with application teams to identify, triage, troubleshoot, and remediate issues
• Monitor system and application availability with Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, X-Ray, Splunk
• Define and document best practices for maintenance and recovery
• Apply DevSecOps principles and practices
• Maintain networking concepts: VPCs, subnets, VPNs, firewalls
• Provide guidance and mentorship to build cloud competencies
• Ensure SLAs are attainable and monitor AWS environments per govundelines
• Develop and implement efforts to maintain AWS apps; support after-hours/weekend calls
• Troubleshoot incidents; identify root causes; document fixes and preventive measures
• Educate teammates on new cloud initiatives; provide training as needed
• Document degradation or outages; aid in resolution
• Keep tickets within program SLO commitments
• Document procedures, configurations, troubleshooting steps
