Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program, providing Tier 3 support to the DHS Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) biometric system. The Tier 3 team maintains the HART infrastructure by installing and configuring system software and hardware, monitoring system performance, resolving customer tickets within JIRA, and supporting system incident troubleshooting calls. Tier 3 members closely interact with the government customer to achieve system objectives, provide ticket updates, and system status updates. Tier 3 members are expected to be on-call for a week at a time approximately 4–6 times a year. This role is entirely telework-based with core hours between 9 am – 3 pm (EST), Monday – Friday; applicants must reside and perform all work within the United States.

Day-to-Day Roles and Responsibilities:

• Help develop, document, communicate, and enforce network technology policies.
• Install and configure new software and hardware, including servers, network devices, and firewalls.
• Monitor system performance, IT operations, and storage utilization.
• Plan for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
• Manage user accounts, assets, and security permissions according to policy.
• Support escalated help desk requests.
• Perform typical system administrator activities.
• Review system performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.
• Identify root causes and document troubleshooting steps to resolution.
• Support Active Directory/LDAP, certificate services, network communications, group policy, and security compliance.
• Provide Tier III support (problem/incident management).
• Work independently and in team settings to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
• Provide on-call support for approximately 4–6 weeks per year.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma and 6 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government agency level clearance (DHS EOD required prior to starting).
• 5 years of Information Technology experience.
• Experience administering Windows systems in a cloud environment.
• Experience with AWS.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cloud systems administration experience (AWS certifications highly preferred).
• Experience with system administration using CyberArk.
• Expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Windows, and open-source technologies.
• Familiarity with OpenShift, Splunk, Ansible Automation Platform, Jenkins, and JFrog toolsets.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
