Job summary

Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) seeks an experienced Construction Inspector / AWS Certified Welding Inspector to serve as an independent field representative on a major project.

You will observe construction activities, perform inspections, verify compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.1M, and coordinate with the project team for timely, accurate reporting. Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and specifications, documenting findings, and ensuring all inspections meet contract requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector credential required.
• Experience applying AWS D1.1 during structural steel fabrication and field erection.

Responsibilities

• Review scope, specs, and drawings before inspections.
• Verify WPSs, materials, and qualifications for work observed.
• Observe welding and bolting to ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Prepare complete field reports with measurements, photos, and deficiencies.
• Coordinate with project team to ensure inspection coverage.
