Job summary

Local First Arizona is building a team for a U.S. Federal Government technology modernization program focused on AWS-based cloud infrastructure.

The AWS Architect will design and govern cloud services, ensuring secure, scalable, and cost-effective delivery while adhering to FedRAMP and Well-Architected practices and enabling agentic AI integration. The role requires 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience, experience with IaC, and strong collaboration with security, engineering, and product teams.

Position Summary

The AWS Architect is responsible for designing and governing the cloud infrastructure for a large-scale federal platform built on native AWS services. This role establishes the cloud architecture, infrastructure standards, and deployment strategy to deliver a secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective platform. Working closely with engineering, security, and product teams, the AWS Architect ensures the platform aligns with FedRAMP requirements, AWS Well-Architected best practices, and modern cloud-native design principles while supporting the integration of agentic AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and govern cloud infrastructure using native AWS services, including AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, API Gateway, Aurora, Amazon S3, and Amazon ECS/EKS.
• Define and maintain infrastructure-as-code standards using AWS CDK and AWS CloudFormation.
• Design cloud infrastructure that supports FedRAMP compliance and federal security requirements.
• Lead AWS Well-Architected Framework reviews and drive cloud cost optimization initiatives.
• Design secure networking, identity, security, and multi-environment deployment strategies.
• Support the integration of Amazon Bedrock and agentic AI services into the cloud platform.
• Guide capacity planning, scalability, resiliency, high availability, and disaster recovery planning.
