Job summary

Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. is seeking an experienced underwriting leader to grow a profitable Equine farm property and liability book. You will oversee submissions, renewals, and endorsements, while guiding the underwriting team and aligning to market strategy.

The role requires a deep knowledge of rating, forms, and underwriting requirements, plus strong communication and negotiation skills to foster broker relationships. AFIS/CPCU are desirable.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in equine farm underwriting.
• 5+ years of management experience preferred.
• AFIS and CPCU desired.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting for the Equine farm property and liability book.
• Review risk submissions, renewals, and endorsements within guidelines.
• Develop and implement division business plans and market strategy.
• Maintain broker relationships and ensure responsive service.
• Coach and grow underwriting team; manage workload and timelines.

Job description

This role will implement, oversee and grow a profitable book of farm property and liability insurance within the Equine segment of our business.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables

• Assist with form filings, new system development and other processes as needed.
• Review new risk submission, renewals and endorsement requests within assigned authority and underwriting guidelines.
• Manage team as business expands and grows.
• Evaluate, accept, reject, or modify risks within established underwriting guidelines.
• Assist Division leadership in the development and implementation of the division business plan and market strategy.
• Proactively expand and maintain awareness of the insurance market, specifically in the assigned LOB.
• Ensure appropriate response times and exemplary customer service for broker partners.
• Effectively communicate with broker partners to develop & maintain relationships.
• Encourage submission of targeted business and maintain a collaborative approach with brokers to obtain necessary information.
• Maintain accurate and timely status of accounts within all systems throughout the underwriting life cycle of the account.
• Pursue professional training for the development of product knowledge and to gain other skills related to personal growth goals.
• Use independent judgement and initiatives to support business goals.
• A team player that maintains a second to none customer service standard.
• In addition to the above key responsibilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 10+ years of experience in equine farm underwriting required.
• 5 + years of management experience preferred.
• AFIS, CPCU desired.
