Job summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Structural Engineering to join our Richmond, VA office. You will lead large-scale structural projects, manage budgets, coordinate with disciplines, and mentor staff to deliver safe, durable infrastructure.

We value deep technical expertise in design, inspection, and project management, with licensure and multi-state eligibility. This role aligns with our Mid-Atlantic District Transportation team and client goals in a growing practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering required.
• 10+ years of post-education engineering experience with design exposure.
• Professional engineer license; multi-state preferred.
• Strong knowledge of structural/civil design and codes.
• Experience with rehabilitation, reconstruction, and new design projects.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead data collection and analysis from sites, blueprints, and GIS for project development.
• Apply advanced structural techniques to improve infrastructure project phases.
• Perform complex investigations to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop construction plans, specs, and cost estimates with coordination.
• Oversee design, construction, rehabilitation, and remediation of projects.
• Mentor staff and stay current with structural engineering practices.
