Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an AVP, Software Engineering Leader to drive technology platforms for Corporate Functions IT. Based in Hartford, CT, this role leads 50+ engineers and vendor resources to deliver modernized enterprise solutions across Legal, HR, and Enterprise Risk.

You will shape strategy, advance cloud adoption, enforce engineering best practices, and partner with executive leaders to deliver measurable business outcomes. Hybrid work with in-office presence three days weekly is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
15+ years of technology leadership experience, including 5+ years managing software engineering organizations.
Proven success leading large-scale technology transformations, including cloud modernization and enterprise platforms.
Experience delivering integrated solutions across SaaS platforms and custom-built applications.

Responsibilities

Shape strategic technology roadmaps for corporate functions and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Modernize the technology portfolio through cloud adoption and engineering best practices.
Partner with senior business leaders to define capabilities and drive execution.
