Job summary

SmartBiz Bank is seeking an AVP, Community SBA Portfolio Manager based in Northbrook, IL or Austin, TX, with the ability to be in the office. You will manage a portfolio of SBA loans, monitor borrower performance, and ensure credit quality while supporting regulatory compliance and risk management objectives.

You will collaborate with underwriting, credit, and servicing teams, prepare leadership-ready analyses, and participate in audits and regulatory inquiries.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of SBA lending, credit analysis, and portfolio management.
• Familiarity with SBA SOP 50 57 and SBA SOP 50 10 Lender guidelines.
• Experience analyzing financial statements and assessing credit risk.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented with a risk management mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The AVP, Community SBA Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring a portfolio of Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, with a focus on community lending and supporting the national lending team. This role ensures credit quality, regulatory compliance, and strong borrower relationships while supporting portfolio growth and risk management objectives.

• 5–8 years of experience in SBA lending, credit analysis and SBA portfolio management
• Strong knowledge and compliance with SBA SOP 50 57 loan servicing and liquidation guidelines and SBA SOP 50 10 Lender policies and guidelines
• Experience analyzing financial statements and assessing credit risk including review of strength of borrower and internal and external stakeholder relationships
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and risk management mindset
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with loan servicing systems and reporting tools
