Responsibilities

• Partners with System Chief Medical Officer to improve physician and APP productivity, access, utilization, and financial sustainability.
• Monitors and benchmarks provider performance using productivity metrics and scheduling data.
• Establishes standards for access, scheduling, and clinic templates to improve efficiency.
• Collaborates with Chairs and department heads to drive performance improvement and standardization.
• Delivers dashboards, scorecards, and predictive analytics for capacity planning and workforce decisions.
• Supports onboarding, ramp-up, and ongoing performance management for APP utilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This job is responsible for leading provider productivity, patient access, capacity management, and clinic template optimization across assigned areas of the organization. This position partners with physician, APP, and operational leadership to develop and implement strategies that improve provider performance, access, utilization, and operational efficiency.

This job provides leadership for major performance improvement initiatives and uses operational, productivity, access, and financial data to identify opportunities and establish consistent standards across the organization. This position promotes operational excellence, physician engagement, and accountability while supporting organizational growth and financial sustainability.

Education

Required - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Finance, Operations Management, or related field.

Preferred - Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Health (MPH), or other advanced degree in healthcare, business, operations, or related field.

Work Experience

Required - 7+ years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, ambulatory operations, provider productivity, patient access, capacity management, physician practice operations, performance improvement, or related disciplines.

Preferred - Experience leading major operational improvement initiatives, managing multi-site or multi-specialty projects, improving access, productivity, quality, or financial performance, and partnering with physician and operational leaders within a healthcare system.

Certifications

Preferred - Lean/Six Sigma or project management certifications.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Advanced knowledge of provider productivity, patient access, capacity management, provider utilization, clinic template optimization, and ambulatory operations.
• Strong knowledge of provider productivity, access, scheduling, utilization, and operational performance measures and industry benchmarks.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex operational and performance improvement initiatives across multiple sites and specialties.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to evaluate operational, productivity, access, capacity, and financial data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to establish standards and governance related to provider access, scheduling, template management, and capacity utilizations.
• Ability to effectively partner with and influence physician, APP, service lien, and operational leaders in a complex healthcare environment.
• Strong communication, presentation, relationship building, project management, change management, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

Job Duties

• Leads provider productivity, patient access, capacity management, utilization, and clinic template optimization initiatives across regions in collaboration with system wide leadership
• Partner with System Chief Medical Officer to develop and implement strategies to improve physician and APP productivity, access, utilization, operational performance, and financial sustainability.
• Monitors and benchmarks provider performance using wRVUs, visits, procedures, and panel size, session utilization, and other key productivity and performance measures.
• Establishes and maintains access, scheduling, and clinic template standards; evaluates appointment availability, schedule utilization, block time, held slots, and other scheduling practices to improve access and efficiency.
• Work with Provider Hiring Committee to establish and monitor evaluation of hiring for physicians and APP's, position approval, all while using specific financial metrics to create ROI's and track the progress of their success upon completion of hiring providers.
• Partners with physician, service line, regional, and operational leaders to assess provider hiring and workforce needs based on demand, access gaps, referral patterns, panel growth, market opportunities and future compensation models.
• Uses productivity, access, capacity, and financial analytics, including wRVUs and other key provider performance measures, to identify trends, benchmark performances, and develop actionable recommendations.
• Develops and utilizes dashboards, scorecards, internal and national benchmarks, and predictive analytics to support performance monitoring, capacity planning, and workforce decisions.
• Supports provider onboarding, ramp-up, and ongoing performance management; work to evaluate and established APP utilization best practice models, benchmarking, physician-to-APP ratios, and team-based care and specialty-specific practice models.
• Collaborates with Chairs, Department Heads, medical directors, physician and APPs to drive performance improvement, standardization, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
