Job summary

AIG is seeking an Assistant Vice President in Chicago to lead the Mass Tort and Complex Casualty Claims team. You will manage a group of about six claims adjusters, handling sophisticated litigation, long-tail bodily injury, and environmental exposures, reporting to the Vice President of Casualty Coverage and Mass Tort.

You will drive reserving quality, proactive investigations, and timely resolutions while collaborating with underwriters and actuarial partners to improve processes and outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Legal, Insurance, Construction Defect or Environmental experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with evaluations and investigations addressing coverage, liability and damage issues.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present information concisely and persuasively.
• Drive collaborative behavior across the leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and guide reserving, expenses and payments within the team.
• Develop the team’s claims handling skills with proactive investigation, evaluation, and resolution.
• Manage communication between the team, insureds and external clients.
• Empower and lead adjusters to embody AIG’s corporate values.
• Elevate complex claims to senior management with significant coverage or loss issues.
• Support initiatives focusing on improved claim processes, results and financials.
• Lead training on trends and emerging issues for the team.
• Coordinate with Actuarial and Underwriting on relevant claims and trends.
• Contribute to client renewals and new business opportunities.
