Job summary

JCW Group is seeking an AVP, Life Sciences Underwriter for a growing specialty E&S carrier. The role focuses on underwriting and growing a portfolio of complex Life Sciences business, including new and renewal underwriting and broker relationships.

You will work to drive profitable portfolio growth, manage risk selection, and support expansion of the Life Sciences platform while representing the carrier in the market.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience with direct Life Sciences underwriting.
• Experience underwriting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, clinical research, and related Life Sciences risks preferred.
• Proven ability to develop broker relationships and manage an assigned book or territory.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage complex Life Sciences accounts including risk selection, pricing, coverage, terms, conditions and overall account strategy.
• Develop strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers to drive new business opportunities and profitable portfolio growth.

JCW is currently recruiting for an AVP, Life Sciences Underwriter on behalf of a growing specialty E&S insurance carrier. This is a highly visible, market-facing role focused on underwriting and growing a portfolio of complex Life Sciences business. The position will be responsible for new and renewal underwriting, broker relationship development, and profitable portfolio growth while helping support the continued expansion of the carrier’s Life Sciences platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage complex new and renewal Life Sciences accounts, including risk selection, pricing, coverage, terms, conditions, and overall account strategy
• Develop strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers to drive new business opportunities, submission flow, and profitable portfolio growth

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience with direct Life Sciences underwriting experience required
• Experience underwriting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, clinical research, and related Life Sciences risks strongly preferred
• Proven ability to develop broker relationships, produce profitable new business, and manage an assigned book or territory
