Job summary

New York City Economic Development Corporation is seeking an AVP, Legislative Affairs to lead and coordinate NYCEDC’s legislative and public policy agenda. The role requires navigating City, State, and Federal processes, advising project teams, and cultivating relationships with elected officials and stakeholders.

The AVP will develop policy guidance, manage multi-stakeholder engagements, and support government approvals while presenting complex issues to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Public Policy, Political Science, Government, Urban Planning, Economics, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in legislative affairs, government relations, or related fields.
• Experience with labor organizations, unions, and workforce stakeholders preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NYC, NYS, and federal legislative processes.
• Experience drafting policy analyses, testimony, and briefing materials.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess City, State, and Federal legislation impacting NYCEDC projects.
• Develop policy recommendations and briefing materials for leadership and project teams.
• Formulate legislative strategy for NYCEDC projects and initiatives.
• Prepare for hearings with testimony and briefing books.
• Build relationships with elected officials, agencies, unions, and advocacy groups.
• Coordinate with Legal, Public Affairs, Strategy, and external stakeholders to align priorities.
• Create presentations for officials and community boards and respond to inquiries.
• Attend public meetings and coordinate engagement strategies with external consultants.
• Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
