Job summary

Fortitude Reinsurance Company Ltd. (Fortitude Re) in Jersey City, NJ, seeks an AVP, Financial Controls to lead the ICFR program in accordance with SOX, MAR and BMA expectations.

You will partner with Controllers, Operations, Legal and Compliance to strengthen internal controls and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting. This hybrid role offers a base salary of $175,000–$185,000 USD, plus annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
• CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent.
• Six or more years in Life & Annuities with public company focus.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and US Statutory accounting.
• Professional verbal and written communications.
• Interpersonal, collaborative and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to present to senior management, auditors and partners.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
• Teamwork and ability to work independently.
• Keeps current on best practices and controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead areas of the annual ICFR program risk assessment and scoping.
• Support remediation of significant deficiencies and weaknesses with external auditors.
• Engage with internal and external auditors for efficiency.
• Develop ICFR program communications for stakeholders.
• Assist in development and implementation of testing for financial reporting controls.
• Seek automation and uniformity of controls across the Company.
