Based in New York City, the role focuses on US GAAP reporting, month-end close, and SEC filings tied to the broker-dealer business, with collaboration across tax, treasury, regulatory reporting, and IT.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required or in progress.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 5+ years in financial reporting for banks/broker-dealers or Big4 audit.
• Deep U.S. GAAP and technical reporting knowledge.
• Advanced Excel and ability to manage multiple deliverables.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and review quarterly and annual consolidated financials under U.S. GAAP.
• Present results to senior finance leadership and explain drivers of earnings.
• Oversee month-end close for consolidation, intercompany, and taxes.
• Substantiate balance sheet and P&L, flag issues, write variance analysis.
• Prepare SEC filings tied to broker-dealer activities.
• Advise on new deals and changes to legal entity structure with cross‑functional teams.
• Support debt offering documents and drive process improvements with IT.

Our client, a financial services firm with broker-dealer and capital markets businesses in New York City, is hiring an AVP to run quarterly consolidated reporting and legal entity accounting across its subsidiaries. This is a hands-on seat with direct exposure to senior finance leadership each quarter.

Compensation: $140,000 to $160,000

What You'll Do

• Prepare and review the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements under U.S. GAAP
• Present quarterly consolidated results to senior finance leadership, walking through significant transactions and what moved earnings
• Oversee month-end close and book entries for consolidation, intercompany, investing and financing activity, accruals, and income taxes
• Substantiate the balance sheet and P&L monthly, flag issues early, and write the variance analysis
• Prepare periodic SEC filings tied to the broker-dealer business
• Advise on new deals and changes to the legal entity structure, partnering with SEC reporting, tax, treasury, regulatory reporting, and technical accounting
• Support the financial content of the firm's debt offering documents
• Redesign processes, build controls, work with IT on systems improvements, and coach junior staff

What We're Looking For

• CPA
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 5+ years in financial reporting or accounting at a bank, broker-dealer, or other financial services firm, or audit experience at a large public accounting firm
• Deep U.S. GAAP and technical reporting knowledge
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to run several deliverables at once
• Clear written and verbal communication

Preferred

• Hands-on financial reporting within banking, brokerage, or a broker-dealer
• Multi-entity consolidation experience
• Experience with ERP, multidimensional consolidation and reporting, and BI tools
• Track record using automation or AI tools to streamline close and reporting
