Job summary

Sompo in the United States is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Environmental Underwriting, to lead renewal and new business Environmental Pollution and Casualty accounts in the territory. You will build partnerships with agents and brokers to develop a strong pipeline and deliver portfolio profitability.

Based in Alpharetta, GA, you will underwrite within authority, collaborate across functions, and travel as needed to meet objectives and support business growth.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of casualty or environmental underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with required forms and coverages.
• Knowledge of laws related to US Environmental underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Meet stated financial objectives for growth and profitability for the Environmental elements of the Specialty portfolio.
• Create and maintain relationships with agents, brokers, and other distribution partners to develop pipeline.
• Utilize underwriting standards, practices, and tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges.
• Review applicable laws and regulations, including cancellation and non-renewal protocols, in assigned locations.
• Perform risk analysis using internal models and market data.
• Support internal and external audits; identify control gaps and drive remediation actions.
• Partner with Claims, Actuarial, Cat/Exposure Management, Finance, and Operations to support underwriting outcomes.
