Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. seeks an Assistant Vice President, Energy Claims and Excess Casualty Claims to lead development and execution of claims strategies, deliver optimal loss cost management and customer satisfaction, and guide complex claims department leadership to align with business objectives.

This hybrid role requires 10–12 years in a legal or insurance setting, strong people management, proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word, and willingness to travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years of experience in legal environment or the insurance industry managing a team supporting commercial accounts for high exposure Excess Casualty claims, Energy, Oil, & Gas a plus.
• Demonstrated people management and development skills in a service/account management role.
• Detailed technical knowledge of general liability claims handling and complex injury/coverage cases.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships across teams.
• Willing to travel up to 15% and operate in a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate a departmental culture that excels in communication and collaboration
• Drives the development and execution of all claim programs and metrics across units
• Leads and manages Claims staff with emphasis on talent management and succession planning
• Collaborates with Underwriting, Risk Management, Actuarial and others on market trends
• Manage staff performance; address training needs and development
• Implement cost containment strategies within the Claims operation
• Assist with development of Claims annual goals and budgets
• Manage accurate and timely case reserving
• Communicate with Underwriters, brokers and reinsurers on claim developments
• Attend mediations, arbitrations, depositions, trials when necessary
• Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned
