Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer to lead complex building projects within the Property & Buildings team in California. This role blends technical leadership, client engagement, and business development to grow our practice.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of electrical design experience on education, industrial or commercial facilities, with strong knowledge of codes and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of post‑education experience as an Electrical Engineer.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical design for building projects, including education/institutional, industrial or commercial sectors.
• Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management across renovation and new‑build projects.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and deliver high‑quality results.
• Well‑established professional presence with a strong local network.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with policy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, review, and approve electrical design plans, ensuring code compliance.
• Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques across all project phases.
• Plan and incorporate future‑ready design strategies for safety, functionality, resiliency, and long‑term performance.
• Support projects from inception through completion, managing electrical design and construction activities.
• Mentor cross‑functional engineering teams on mid‑ to large‑scale projects, including budgets and schedules.
• Prepare and review technical documents, reports, calculations, drawings, and presentations.
• Provide input on pursuits and proposals, supporting business development and client interviews.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with leadership and partners.
