Job summary

Old Republic is seeking an AVP, Controller – Financial Operations in Chicago (Hybrid) to lead corporate accounting operations, governance, and financial reporting for the organization and its operating companies. This senior leader will oversee the general ledger, close processes, investment accounting, and accounts payable.

You will drive finance transformation, coordinate audits, advise executive leadership on complex transactions, and ensure GAAP and statutory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA designation required; public accounting/Big Four preferred.
• MBA is a plus.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience with leadership responsibility.
• Insurance industry experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with SEC reporting and public company environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-entity accounting operations, governance, and reporting for corporate entities.
• Oversee the general ledger, close processes, consolidation, and intercompany accounting.
• Manage accounts payable and investment accounting with collaboration across divisions.
• Ensure GAAP, statutory reporting, and internal controls compliance, including SOX.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and resolve audit issues.
• Provide accounting guidance on acquisitions, capital initiatives, and complex transactions.
