Job summary

WSP USA seeks an Assistant Vice President Civil Roadway Engineer/Project Manager to lead transportation design and project delivery in Northern Nevada. You will drive program management, client relationships, and multi-disciplinary coordination to support RTC Washoe County, Carson City Public Works, and NDOT District 2 initiatives.

You will mentor teams, pursue new business opportunities, and represent WSP in Reno’s regional industry groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in transportation engineering and roadway design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (Nevada preferred or ability to obtain).
• Proficiency in roadway design principles, civil engineering practices, and design-build delivery.
• Experience with local public agencies, NDOT, and municipal clients.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, MicroStation/OpenRoads, and related design tools.
• Experience preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables, technical reports, cost estimates, and proposals.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to lead clients, regulators, project managers, and teams; QA/QC adherence.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation design projects from concept through final design and construction support.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and client communication.
• Oversee preparation of roadway geometrics, plans, profiles, exhibits, analyses, and cost estimates.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality, safety, and professional standards.
• Coordinate with Planning, Environmental, Roadway, Structures, Drainage, and Traffic teams.
• Support business development with Northern Nevada agencies and clients.
• Represent WSP in the Reno market and regional industry associations.
• Mentor staff and support growth of project teams.
• Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals on federally, state, and local projects and proposals.
• Exercise ethical decision-making and adhere to WSP policies.
