Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in Orlando seeks an Associate Vice President for residential land development to lead planning, design, and delivery of complex projects. This role requires guiding multiple teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring technical excellence in alignment with firm standards.

You will mentor managers and senior staff, drive business development, and represent the firm in industry and community settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the required state(s).
• Minimum 12 years of progressive engineering experience with senior leadership.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor managers, project leaders, and senior staff.
• Experience managing complex projects with multiple teams and priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manage residential land development projects through planning, design, permitting, and implementation.
• Provide leadership for multidisciplinary teams supporting public and private development.
• Oversee all phases of project delivery, from planning to construction or implementation support.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise managers, project leaders, and senior staff; support professional development.
• Review proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and client agreements to ensure alignment with company standards and business objectives.
• Support business development activities, including pursuit strategy, proposal development, RFQs/RFPs, and client interviews.
• Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, public agencies, industry partners, and community leaders.
• Ensure consistent application and advancement of company design, production, and quality control standards across projects and teams.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, operations, and finance to assess staffing needs, resource allocation, and market conditions.
• Represent the company through active participation in professional associations, industry organizations, and civic groups.
