W. R. Berkley Corporation in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Underwriting for Builders Risk and Construction. You will lead underwriting strategy, manage renewals and new business, and balance growth with profitability while partnering with brokers and clients nationwide.

The role requires deep Builders Risk experience, strong market relationships, and the ability to drive profitable growth across the Engineering & Construction portfolio within our global platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Builders Risk and/or Construction Property underwriting experience.
• Established broker relationships within the retail and/or wholesale market.
• Strong knowledge of construction and engineering risks, policy coverages, and underwriting principles.
• Proven track record of underwriting profitability and effective risk selection.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex risks and make informed, business-focused decisions.

Responsabilités

• Underwrite and manage a portfolio of project-specific Builders Risk and Construction All Risks business across the United States.
• Assess exposures, determine pricing, analyze coverage, and structure profitable insurance solutions.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with retail and wholesale broker partners.
• Contribute to the growth and evolution of the Engineering & Construction portfolio through disciplined underwriting and market insight.
• Collaborate closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and portfolio management teams in London to support consistent, profitable growth across the broader platform.
• Monitor portfolio performance and apply sound judgment to manage risk while identifying new business opportunities.
