Job summary

State Street seeks an Assistant Vice President, Business Information Security Officer (BISO) to oversee cyber risk for lines of business and legal entities in the first line of defense. The AVP-BISO will integrate into a focused team, delivering metrics and cyber-driven content to support risk-informed decision-making.

The role requires a strong technical background, risk assessment skills, and the ability to influence executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• CISSP or CISM strongly preferred; CRISC, CISA, SSCP, CCSP, CEH, GIAC valued.
• Eight or more years of progressive cybersecurity and risk leadership within regulated financial services.
• Ability to influence executives and translate technical risk into business language.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior business and technology leaders to enable informed decision-making, prioritization, and risk-based trade-offs.
• Oversee and manage risks in line with risk appetite through engagement with business units and escalation of open risk items.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify information assets and assess protection needs for all lines of business and legal entities.
• Perform cyber risk assessments at application, platform, and system levels to identify vulnerabilities and determine protections per GCS standards.
• Represent the global cybersecurity organization as a member of business control committees and risk forums.
• Prepare and deliver executive-ready presentations on protection-needs outcomes, threat models, and control results to leadership.
• Report significant changes in information security risk to management on a periodic and event-driven basis.
