Job summary

Wellabe in Des Moines, IA seeks an AVP Actuary Valuation & Modernization to lead actuarial reserves and financial reporting for Wellabe companies. This role directs reserves, audits support, and modernization of actuarial processes.

You will manage a small team (3–5), collaborate with Finance, Risk, and Internal Audit, and ensure compliance with US statutory and GAAP (LDTI). Strong communication and advanced actuarial skills required.

Qualifications

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to executives and the board.
• Advanced actuarial skills in reserving, experience analysis, data management and reporting.
• Deep knowledge of US insurance products, operations and regulatory landscape.
• Ability to understand technical solutions and rapidly learn tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and interpretation of actuarial data and related formulae; provide guidance on complex actuarial scenarios.
• Ensure compliance with statutory reserve requirements.
• Direct monthly/quarterly/annual close for actuarial items and review NAIC RBC calculations.
• Support financial reporting and analysis for management and the board.
