Job summary

Vast in Long Beach, CA, is seeking an Avionics System Test Operations Engineer to support automated testing for Haven-1 avionics. This full-time, exempt role reports to the Senior Manager, Avionics System Test, and involves HITL/HIL test asset development, test automation, and cross-functional collaboration with Flight Software and Mission Operations teams.

The candidate will lead test design discussions, develop system-level test cases, and perform anomaly resolution with robust documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
• 2+ years building or developing hardware test systems.
• 2+ years operating Linux systems and using command line tools.
• Experience with power supplies, electronic loads, scopes, and multimeters.
• Knowledge of electrical safety and grounding concepts.
• Strong root cause analysis and technical reporting skills.
• Familiarity with Python programming.

Responsibilities

• Capture test design criteria with responsible engineers and system owners.
• Lead test methodology discussions for HITL/HIL test assets.
• Develop and validate system-level test cases and outputs.
• Plan day-to-day system test operations and troubleshooting.
• Checkout test assets and support sign-off reviews.
• Develop automation tools to improve test planning and data analysis.
• Coordinate anomaly resolution, root-cause analysis, and prevention.
• Support Mission Operator training and anomaly response for on-orbit issues.
• Collaborate on co-simulation interfaces for HITL applications.
• Produce documentation and handover to test operators.
