Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking an Avionics Test Engineer in El Segundo, CA. You will design, build, and operate test systems for spacecraft avionics, develop Python-based tests, and collaborate on strategies to ensure hardware meets mission requirements.

You will work with experienced teams to qualify flight hardware, perform proto-flight tests, and advance test automation in a fast-paced space startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in system validation, component testing, or test software development.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with electronics test equipment: power supplies, DAQ systems, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Familiarity with sensors such as thermocouples, RTDs, and 4-20mA devices.
• Proficiency with Git source control.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate test systems for spacecraft avionics components and assemblies to exercise components during environmental stress testing and acceptance testing.
• Develop Python-based test procedures, analyze test data, and generate reports.
• Collaborate with Responsible Engineers to identify test cases and testing strategies for avionics products under extreme conditions.
• Create test plans for flight hardware and manage qualification, acceptance, and proto-flight tests.
• Coordinate with avionics test systems and manufacturing engineers to standardize test software behavior and data reporting.
• Contribute to engineering best practices with emphasis on test automation and efficiency.
• Work with HITL testbeds to simulate spacecraft on the ground and ensure mission readiness.
