Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks an Avionics Test Engineer to join a Systems Engineering team for testing and verification of avionics hardware. You will implement test plans based on industry standards, work with AIS and datalink technologies, and collaborate across engineering groups to troubleshoot and improve test methods.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, documentation, and the ability to work independently in an onsite environment. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • IP Communication course work or work experience.
  • Experience reading and following technical documentation, schematics, and test procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Execute test procedures on avionics hardware in accordance with established test plans and industry specifications.
  • Set up, configure, and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and simulation tools.
  • Collect, analyze, and document test results with attention to accuracy and traceability.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineers to troubleshoot issues and support avionics testing.
  • Contribute to updates of test plans, procedures, and test reports; maintain lab configurations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to test methods, automation, and processes.
  • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills and maintain attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively through written documentation and verbal communication.
  • Work independently and within teams; may require some travel.
